Elf Vape Device Troubleshooting Guide: No Vapour, Charging and Burnt Taste
If your Elf vape device is not working, producing no vapour, tasting burnt, leaking or refusing to charge, there are a few practical checks worth making before replacing anything.
This guide is mainly for the current reusable Elf Bar products available from Jenson, including the Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pod Kit and the Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pod Kit.
Both use rechargeable batteries and compatible prefilled replacement pods. They are not designed to be taken apart, refilled by hand, repaired at home or used with an incompatible pod.
Elf Vape Not Working? Check These Things First
Before assuming that your Elf vape device has stopped working completely, try these steps:
- Charge the device using the supplied or recommended charging cable.
- Remove the pod and insert it again securely.
- Check that any protective seals, silicone covers or stickers have been removed from a new pod.
- Wipe visible condensation from the pod connection area with a clean, dry cloth.
- Make sure you are not covering the airflow area while taking a draw.
- Replace the pod if it is empty, damaged, leaking or giving a persistent burnt taste.
If these steps do not resolve the problem, use the guidance below to identify the likely cause.
First, Check Which Elf Bar Device You Have
The correct troubleshooting step depends on the Elf Bar system you are using.
Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pod Kit
The Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pod Kit is a compact rechargeable device with no buttons or adjustable settings. It is inhale-activated, so you simply take a draw through the mouthpiece to use it.
It uses Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pods, which are sold in two-packs. When a pod is finished, you replace it with a new compatible pod rather than refilling or opening it.
Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pod Kit
The Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pod Kit is a multi-flavour device that uses a twist-to-swap prefilled pod system. One pod unit contains four flavours, which can be selected by rotating the pod system.
It uses Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pods. These pods are made specifically for the Elf Bar 4 in 1 device.
Important: Elf Bar 600 pods and Elf Bar 4 in 1 pods are different systems. Always use the matching replacement pod for your device.
Why Is My Elf Vape Not Producing Vapour?
If your Elf vape is not producing vapour, work through these checks in order.
1. Check the Battery Charge
The Elf Bar 600 and Elf Bar 4 in 1 are rechargeable devices. If the battery is low or fully depleted, the device may not produce vapour.
Connect the device to the appropriate charger and allow it to charge before trying again. Use the cable supplied with the kit or a suitable recommended replacement cable.
Do not charge a vape overnight or leave it unattended while charging. Charge it on a clean, flat surface away from anything that could catch fire. Do not continue using or charging a device that is visibly damaged, leaking, unusually hot or has a damaged charging port.
2. Remove and Reinsert the Pod
Take the pod out of the device and insert it again carefully.
A pod that is not sitting correctly can prevent the device from recognising it. Before reinserting it, check for visible dust, condensation or E-Liquid around the pod connection area.
Use a clean, dry cloth to gently wipe the contacts and pod cavity. Do not use sharp tools, pins or metal objects inside the device.
3. Check for Protective Covers or Seals
If you have just fitted a new pod, check that all protective packaging, stickers and silicone covers have been removed.
A blocked mouthpiece or covered airflow area can stop the device from activating properly.
4. Replace the Pod
If the device is charged and the pod is fitted correctly but you are still getting no vapour, the pod may be empty or the built-in coil may have reached the end of its life.
For an Elf Bar 600, replace the pod with a compatible Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pod.
For an Elf Bar 4 in 1, replace the pod unit with a compatible Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pod.
Do not try to open, refill or repair a sealed prefilled pod.
Elf Vape Is Charged but Still Not Working
If your Elf vape appears charged but still produces no vapour, the pod is usually the first thing to check.
Remove the pod, wipe the connection area with a clean, dry cloth and reinsert it securely. Then take a slow, steady draw.
If this does not work, try a new compatible pod. A sealed pod can stop performing if it is empty, damaged, leaking or has reached the end of its usable life.
For the Elf Bar 600, browse Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pods.
For the Elf Bar 4 in 1, browse Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pods.
If a new compatible pod does not resolve the issue, the device itself may need to be replaced or checked by the retailer.
Why Does My Elf Vape Taste Burnt?
A burnt, dry or unpleasant taste usually means the pod is no longer performing properly.
With a sealed prefilled pod, the coil is built into the pod. You cannot replace the coil separately, and you should not attempt to open the pod to add E-Liquid.
If your Elf vape tastes burnt:
- Stop using the pod.
- Remove it from the device.
- Check for visible damage or leaking.
- Replace it with the correct compatible pod.
A burnt taste will not usually improve by continuing to use the same pod. Replacing the pod is the appropriate next step.

Why Is My Elf Vape Leaking or Gurgling?
A small amount of condensation around the pod connection area can occur during normal use. However, repeated leaking, gurgling or visible E-Liquid around the device should be dealt with promptly.
What to Do
- Remove the pod from the device.
- Wipe the outside of the pod and the pod cavity with a clean, dry cloth.
- Check that the pod is not cracked or visibly damaged.
- Reinsert the pod securely.
- Keep the device upright where possible.
How to Help Prevent Leaks
Avoid leaving your Elf vape in very hot conditions, such as direct sunlight or a hot car. Try not to squeeze it tightly in a pocket or bag, as pressure can contribute to leaking.
If a pod continues to leak after cleaning and reinserting it, stop using it and replace it with a new compatible pod.
Do not charge the device if E-Liquid has entered the charging port. Allow the device to dry fully, and do not insert metal objects or anything sharp into the charging port.
Elf Vape Not Charging
If your Elf vape is not charging, begin by checking the cable, plug and charging port.
Check the Charging Cable
Try the supplied cable or another suitable replacement cable that you know is working.
Make sure the cable is fully inserted into both the device and the power source. A loose cable connection can prevent charging.
Check the Charging Port
Look for visible lint, dust or liquid around the charging port.
Do not use pins, paper clips or metal tools to clear the port. If the port is damaged, loose or blocked by liquid, stop using the device and contact support.
Charge Safely
Only use a suitable charger for the device. Do not charge overnight or leave it charging unattended.
Charge your vape on a clean, flat surface and away from beds, sofas, paper, clothing or other flammable materials.
Stop using the device if it becomes unusually hot, is physically damaged, leaks from the device body, has a damaged charging port or does not charge after trying a working cable.
Elf Bar 4 in 1 Not Working
The Elf Bar 4 in 1 uses a multi-flavour pod system, so there are a few extra checks to make.
First, make sure the device has enough charge. Then check that the compatible 4 in 1 pod is fully inserted.
Rotate the pod system carefully to select the flavour you want to use. Make sure the selected flavour is properly aligned before taking a draw.
If one flavour is not producing vapour but the others are working, the pod unit may be near the end of its life or damaged. Replace it with a compatible Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pod.
Do not use an Elf Bar 600 pod in an Elf Bar 4 in 1 device.
Can You Refill an Elf Bar Prefilled Pod?
No. Do not attempt to refill a sealed Elf Bar prefilled pod.
The Elf Bar 600 and Elf Bar 4 in 1 systems sold by Jenson are designed to use prefilled replacement pods. When a pod is finished, replace it with the correct compatible pod.
Trying to open or refill a sealed pod can cause leaking, poor performance or damage. It can also make the device unsafe to use.
If you prefer a refillable pod kit where you choose bottled E-Liquid yourself, browse Jenson’s Refillable Pod Kits and Tanks.
When Should You Replace the Pod?
Replace the pod if:
- It has a persistent burnt taste.
- It has stopped producing vapour after being reinserted correctly.
- It is empty.
- It is cracked, leaking or visibly damaged.
- The flavour or vapour output has become noticeably weak.
- Cleaning the connection area has not resolved the issue.
For the Elf Bar 600, choose from Elf Bar 600 Prefilled Pods.
For the Elf Bar 4 in 1, choose from Elf Bar 4 in 1 Prefilled Pods.
When Should You Stop Using the Device?
Stop using the device and contact Jenson E-Cig if:
- The device is cracked, swollen, leaking from the battery section or unusually hot.
- The charging port is damaged.
- It does not charge after trying a suitable working cable.
- A new compatible pod does not solve the issue.
- You are unsure whether the device is safe to keep using.
Do not attempt to open the battery section, replace internal parts or repair a damaged device yourself.
