E-LIQUID

Essentially in all e-liquids are the following: • Propylene Glycol (PG) • Vegetable Glycerin (VG) • Flavouring • Nicotine – different strengths are added to create different strengths, and it is also possible to buy a 0mg product. For more information on the ingredients in our e-liquids, see how to choose your e-liquid here

There are two major ingredients found in e-liquids, PG and VG.  The ratio of these ingredients makes a big difference to the vapour that is produced and which device you’ll need to use.

High PG e-liquid is the best flavour carrier, and is less viscose which needs less power to heat, and generates vapour and a throat hit which is closer to that of a traditional cigarette. We have an e-liquid range which is High PG, having a ratio of 70PG/30VG. These e-liquids can be used with the Jenson E-Vo device and the Amico device.

50/50 e-liquids have a balanced ratio of 50PG/50VG. These e-liquids are good flavour carriers and provide a smoother throat hit. These e-liquids are more viscose than High PG e-liquids which means they produce more vapour and will require more power to heat. 50/50 e-liquids are versatile enough to be used across many devices. These e-liquids can be used with the Jenson E-Vo device, Amico device and QT device.

High VG e-liquid has a ratio of 70VG/30PG. Needing more power to heat (hence bigger devices), High VG e-liquid provides a very smooth vape experience, creating lots of clouds (also known as cloud chasing). High VG e-liquid is very viscose and designed to be used with the Jenson Lumiere device, Azure device and QT device.

The strength or mg tells you how much nicotine is in each product, for example:

• 0mg – There is no nicotine in the product

• 3mg- There is 3mg of nicotine per millilitre which means 0.3% per 10ml e-liquid bottle

• 6mg – There is 6mg of nicotine per millilitre which means 0.6% per 10ml e-liquid bottle

• 12mg – There is 12mg of nicotine per millilitre which means 1.2% per 10ml e-liquid bottle

• 18mg – There is 18mg of nicotine per millilitre which means 1.8% per 10ml e-liquid bottle

You will be prompted to select your nicotine strength when adding an e-liquid to your basket

Please refer to the manual page for refill instructions for the Amico, QT, Lumiere and Azure.

E-liquids are best stored out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat. Please store safely out of reach of children and pets. Over time your e-liquid may change colour but it will be fine to vape and won’t affect the vape quality.

There are many flavoured e-liquids which have a tobacco flavour added, as opposed to a fruit for example. These tobacco flavours are popular with smokers making the transition to vaping and who are looking for a taste more akin to traditional tobacco. We recommend if you’re new to vaping to start with a tobacco flavour, and once you’re accustomed to vaping, start experimenting with different flavours.

The vapour produced when vaping will have a smell and will be the same
as the flavour of the e-liquid. The vapour will dissipate and
won’t leave clothes or hair smelling as it does with traditional tobacco.

Depending on your usage, the average use of 10ml bottle is approximately 3-5 days.

DEVICES AND ACCESSORIES

It is very important to make sure that the coil or pod on your device is primed with e-liquid before you attempt to vape. Priming (or soaking) is an easy process and an important one. It shouldn’t be skipped over as the coil or pod will be ruined in seconds and won’t be pleasant to use if not performed properly. Coils can be built in (within a sealed unit such as a pod or clearomiser) or replaceable (such as the E-Vo or Lumiere), either way, it needs to properly primed. Please refer to your user manual for more information.

On first time use of a new coil or pod, users should allow at least 2-5 minutes for the e-liquid to soak into the coil before attempting to vape. Alternatively, you can take a few deep draws on your device without firing the button. As the QT device has no button, remove the pod from the battery and take a few deep draws. This helps to draw e-liquid into the coil and aid the priming (soaking) process. A few minutes patience will make a big difference to the quality of your vape.

As a general rule, the bigger the coil the longer the soak.

The coil is the heating element of the vape device. It is made of a cotton wick, which absorbs the e-liquid and in turn is heated and turns the e-liquid into vapour. Because the coil is constantly getting hot and cooling down, this affects the coils performance after a while.

It is recommended to replace the coil on your E-Vo device every 7-14 days, depending on usage.

It is recommended to replace the coil on your Lumiere or Azure device every 10-14 days, depending on usage.

Click here to buy replacement accessories.

Some tell tale signs for when to change your coil are a change in taste and a change in the amount of vapour being produced.

The pod contains the coil which is the heating element of the vape device. It is made of a cotton wick, which absorbs the e-liquid and in turn is heated and turns the e-liquid into vapour. Because the coil is constantly getting hot and cooling down, this affects the coils performance after a while.

The coil is built into the pod, which means, once the pod has come to the end of its life, it will need replacing. Simply remove the pod from the device and dispose of it responsibly.

It is recommended to replace the pod on your QT device every 5 refills.

It is recommended to replace the pod on your Amico device every 5 refills.

Some tell tale signs for when to change your pod are a change in taste and a change in the amount of vapour being produced.

The clearomiser contains a fixed coil which is the heating element of the vape device. It is made of a cotton wick, which absorbs the e-liquid and in turn is heated and turns the e-liquid into vapour. Because the coil is constantly getting hot and cooling down, this affects the coils performance after a while.

It is recommended to replace the clearomiser on your E-Vo device every 2-3 weeks, depending on usage.

Some tell tale signs for when to change your clearomiser are a change in taste and a change in the amount of vapour being produced.

For the QT, Amico, Azure and Lumiere devices, please refer to the user product manual.

For the E-Vo device, the battery LED lights indicate the following:

WHITE – 70 – 99% charge remaining

BLUE – 31 – 69% charge remaining

RED – 0 – 30% charge remaining. Charge imminently.

RED FLASHING – 0% charge remaining. Charge immediately.

We recommend cleaning your device regularly and wiping down after each e-liquid refill. You should regularly clean the battery, screw threads and connector parts with dry, rolled up tissue to get better conduction and a better vape. You should also wipe down after each e-liquid refill to ensure any spillage is removed. Do not carry vape devices in your pockets loose as the device can easily be damaged and is unsafe. To carry your Jenson E-Vo device easily and efficiently we recommend the E-Vo Pocket Tube. Always turn the battery off when not in use. Ensure you store your device away from direct sunlight and direct heat. Always keep out of reach of children and pets.

To keep your device functioning in tip top condition you’ll
need to replace certain consumable parts, depending on how much you use your
device.

TROUBLESHOOTING

A burnt taste when vaping is likely caused by the coil being burnt out. This occurs when it has been overused and is a sign it needs replacing immediately. Using the coil after the recommended time will give you an inconsistent, weak vape which may taste burnt.  It’s also recommended to clean the screw threads of the battery and tank or clearomiser with a cotton bud. Finally, ensure the tank or clearomiser is minimum half full with e-liquid to prevent a dry vape (or a dry hit).  If not enough e-liquid has been absorbed, then the coil can burn out. Not priming your device properly at the beginning of it’s life can also cause the coil to burn out. Click here to see your product manual.

If your Jenson device is making a bubbling sound and not drawing properly when inhaling, then it’s likely there is e-liquid within the screw threads, and it needs a clean. You need to clean the screw thread of the battery and tank or clearomiser with a cotton bud to absorb any excess e-liquid that has leaked. These parts of the products need to be kept clean at all times as these are the main points of the conduction. When these are kept clean, a consistent connection allows you to have a good quality vaping experience. Click here for a video on how to clean the screw threads. If the problem still persists, then it is likely you have a faulty product which will need replacing.

If your device is leaking, then you will need to clean the screw threads of the battery and tank or clearomiser with a cotton bud. If it continues to leak, then it’s likely it’s been dropped and the window of the device has cracked. In this instance, you will need to buy a replacement.

Wipe up any spilt e-liquid immediately with a damp cloth and wash your hands thoroughly before touching your eyes or mouth.

If you are not getting much vapour from your device, we recommend cleaning the battery, screw threads and connector parts with dry, rolled up tissue to get better conduction and a better vape. You should also wipe down after each e-liquid refill to ensure any spillage is removed. If the problem still persists, then you should consider replacing the coil, pod or clearomiser as this is the component which generates the vapour.

Alternatively, your battery may need charging.

To turn your device on or off, simply press the fire button 5 times rapidly. The device will flash 3 times to indicate it has been turned on/off.

Please note, as the Amico and QT devices are buttonless, you are unable to turn them off. However, to stop the connection, simply separate the pod from the device. The pod device will flash once to indicate the pod has been disconnected and will flash 3 times when the pod has been reconnected.

If you notice a change in the appearance of your e-liquid, this can mean your e-liquid has oxidised. Oxidisation, put simply, is the reaction of the e-liquid with oxygen in the air. This happens over a period of time, and may be due to a hairline crack within the tank, pod or clearomiser. We recommend cleaning your device regularly and wiping down after each e-liquid refill. You should regularly clean the battery, screw threads and connector parts with dry, rolled up tissue to get better conduction and a better vape.

If this doesn’t work, then it’s likely your tank, pod or clearomiser needs replacing. Click here to go to the accessories page.

SUB-OHM VS PLUS-OHM VAPING

Ohm (Ω) is the unit used to measure resistance. Different vaping device coils have different resistances, which affects the way you vape, and, the device, coil, and the e-liquid you use.

Sub-ohm (coil is less than 1 ohm Ω) vaping uses predominantly high VG e-liquid.

Plus-ohm (coil is more than 1 ohm Ω) vaping uses 50PG/50VG and high PG e-liquid.

When vaping using sub-ohm coils on a sub-ohm device, a substantial amount of vapour is produced. Typically sub-ohm vapers take ‘direct to lung’ (DTL) draws, meaning they inhale straight to their lung. Sub-ohm vaping increases the vapour that can be inhaled on each puff.

Those who vape sub-ohm use e-liquid with a higher percentage of VG than PG. The reason for this is that the VG creates larger clouds and denser vapour production because sub-ohm vape devices requires more power to heat the e-liquid and generate clouds, as VG e-liquid is more viscose (thicker). Vaping high VG e-liquid also has a reduced throat hit compared to vaping high PG e-liquid. This is because high VG e-liquid is smoother on the inhale.

Usually those who sub-ohm vape will also use lower nicotine strengths (6mg and under) compared to those vaping above 1 ohm, because of the additional vapour produced and inhaled on each draw.

If you are using a device which requires a sub-ohm coil, (less than 1 ohm Ω), then you need to use predominantly high VG e-liquid with your device.

The viscosity (thickness) of high VG e-liquid is compatible with coils of a resistance of less than 1 ohm Ω.

If a coil has low resistance, eg. 0.5 Ω (like the Lumiere coil), this means it takes more power from the battery to heat up the e-liquid and reach the point of vaporising. In turn, this means your e-liquid is vaporised at a quicker rate compared to a plus-ohm coil.

This means batteries for sub-ohm vaping give out more power, which requires a bigger battery. Therefore, sub-ohm devices are usually larger in size to provide the necessary power output, for this style of vaping.

It’s extremely rare for someone to be allergic to e-liquids as both PG and VG are used in many other consumable products, so it’s likely you would know before vaping if you were allergic to either of these.

However, please read the ingredients list before using our products if you are uncertain.

Once you’ve got yourself set up with a new device and e-liquid, the day to day running costs of vaping are significantly cheaper than smoking traditional products.

For example, a smoker on 10 cigarettes a day would spend £38.22/£152.88 a week/month compared to £14.50/£58.00 a week/month when vaping. That’s an average saving of £23.72/£94.88 a week/month.

* calculation based on 1 x pack of coils and 2 x e-liquids bought per week at a total of £14.50. Based on UK average cigarette price in September 2020 (£10.92).

In the UK, vaping is prohibited in most public areas and is regulated very similarly to traditional tobacco.

There are certain areas and places in the UK where vaping is prohibited. This is just a guide, so please always check with the establishment to see if vaping is permitted there.

Vaping is prohibited in the following public places:

Trains

Airports and airplanes

Buses and coaches

Sports stadiums

Music venues

Hospitals and medical centres

Restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs, clubs and other eateries

Cruise ships and ferries

The use of e-cigarettes are banned on planes. Ensure you have a vape break before checking in at the airport. You will also need to put your e-liquid bottles in a clear plastic bag (usually supplied by the airport), but remember you can’t carry over 100ml of e-liquid so don’t bring too much on your travels, otherwise you run the risk of getting them taken off you.

It is advised to wrap your devices, and any extra tanks or containers containing e-liquid, in a paper towel, as the change in air pressure on the plane will cause your vape device to leak. Sadly, this is due to physics and nothing else.

It is your responsibility to get familiar with the laws of whatever country you’re flying off to, as there are many countries where vaping is prohibited, and some countries have specific laws on nicotine-containing e-liquids and large devices. Always do your own research, to avoid the risk of your device and e-liquids being confiscated.

When taking your device and e-liquids abroad, especially to hot countries, it is advised to keep all items out of direct sunlight and heat, as this can damage your batteries and e-liquids.

If the e-liquid gets too hot, it will get runnier, affecting the way it vaporises, and the nicotine will break down, leaving it way less potent. The e-liquid flavour can also change due to the heat which just ruins your whole vaping experience.

The heat damages the cells within the battery, so if the battery gets too hot, it will cause damage, leading to it not holding as much charge and can even be a fire hazard. Always keep your batteries and e-liquids within a bag in a cooler area, such as a cool bag.

When abroad, you should always keep your e-liquid and batteries in a cool, dry and shaded place, to protect and maintain the integrity of the batteries and e-liquids.

This is only a guide. Please ensure you do your own research before travelling abroad with your e-cigarette as the countries laws and regulations are subject to change.

Some countries have banned the use and buying of e-cigarettes and e-liquids, whereas some countries have only banned the buying of them, while in other countries it is completely legal to use and buy.

Even though it is legal to vape in some countries, please do respect the laws around where you can vape (e.g in public or religious places).

Below is a list of countries where vaping is banned:

ARGENTINA, ANTIGUA AND BRABUDA, AUSTRALIA, BHUTAN, BRAZIL, BRUNEI, CAMBODIA, COLUMBIA, ETHIOPIA, GAMBIA, INDIA, IRAN, JAPAN, NORTH KOREA, KUWAIT, LAOS, LEBANON, MAURITIUS, MEXICO, NEPAL, NICARAGUA, OMAN, PALESTINE, PANAMA, QATAR, SEYCHELLES, SINGAPORE, SRI LANKA, SURINAME, SYRIA, THAILAND, TIMOR-LESTE, TURKMENISTAN, UGANDA, URUGUAY, VATICAN CITY, VENEZUELA

The long term implications of the use of e-cigarettes are, as yet, unknown.  By comparison, the harm from tobacco smoking – the leading cause of preventable death in the UK – is well established. We think that it is a self-evident truth that the best way to guard against concerns related to tobacco products would to be avoid those products altogether. We are, however, minded to agree with the large body of people who see the value of e-cigarettes as part of the general principle of Smoking Harm Reduction.

It is widely accepted that it is primarily the toxins and carcinogens in tobacco smoke – not the nicotine – that cause illness and death. E-cigarettes seek to deliver nicotine without the toxins produced by the burning of tobacco.

Even Government health bodies, such as Public Health England are making explicit statements relating to the benefits of electronic nicotine delivery systems over traditional tobacco products: “…from what is known about the vapour and its contents, it is never better for the health of a smoker or those around them to smoke tobacco rather than use even an unlicensed e-cigarette. E-cigarettes, despite appearances, are not cigarettes and do not produce smoke. It is the smoke, not the nicotine that causes the vast bulk of the harm.”

https://publichealthmatters.blog.gov.uk/2014/05/21/e-cigarettes-and-harm-reduction-where-are-we-now-and-what-next/

Tobacco contains many chemicals and carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals), so when you burn tobacco, you are releasing these chemicals and directly breathing them in, as well as creating passive (second hand) smoke for others to inhale too.

Vaping heats e-liquid, not burns tobacco, which makes it 95% safer than smoking**, and significantly reduces the risk of tobacco related illness and disease. “E-cigarettes are not completely risk free but when compared to smoking, evidence shows they carry just a fraction of the harm”.*** We always encourage you to do your own research around vaping as we cannot make or share claims or testimonials on real life vaping stories.

Click here to view the gov.uk landmark review on vaping, which contains detailed information and sources who believe vaping is safer than smoking, and can be used as an aid to stop you smoking traditional tobacco.

Professor Ann McNeill, King’s College London and independent author of the review, said:

“There is no evidence that e-cigarettes are undermining England’s falling smoking rates. Instead the evidence consistently finds that e-cigarettes are another tool for stopping smoking and in my view smokers should try vaping and vapers should stop smoking entirely.”***

Professor Peter Hajek, Queen Mary University London and independent author of the review said:

“My reading of the evidence is that smokers who switch to vaping remove almost all the risks smoking poses to their health.”***

Professor Linda Bauld, Cancer Research UK’s expert in cancer prevention, said:

“In fact, the overall evidence points to e-cigarettes actually helping people to give up smoking tobacco.”***
