What Does Vape Gurgling Mean?
Gurgling usually means there is more E-Liquid around the coil than it can vaporise efficiently.

What Is the Difference Between Gurgling, Spitting, Leaking and Condensation?
These problems are related, but they are not exactly the same.

1. The Coil Has Become Flooded
A flooded coil is the most common explanation for persistent gurgling.
This happens when more E-Liquid enters the coil chamber than the heating element can vaporise. The excess liquid remains in the airflow path and bubbles as air passes through it.
A flooded coil may also cause:
- Weak or inconsistent vapour
- A wet mouthpiece
- E-Liquid droplets during inhaling
- Leaking around the pod
- A tight or uneven draw
Flooding does not necessarily mean the pod is permanently damaged. Cleaning accessible excess liquid and correcting the cause may solve the problem. However, a pod or coil that continues flooding may need replacing.
2. Condensation Has Collected in the Mouthpiece
Vapour naturally cools after leaving the coil. Some of it can turn back into small droplets inside the mouthpiece or airflow channel.
Over time, this moisture may collect and create:
- A wet or bubbling sound
- Small droplets around the mouthpiece
- Occasional spitback
- Moisture underneath the pod

3. A Refillable Pod Has Been Overfilled

5. The E-Liquid Is Not Suitable for the Device
This mainly applies to refillable pod kits and tanks.
E-Liquids vary in thickness according to their PG and VG ratio. Using a liquid that is too thin for the coil may allow it to pass through the wick too quickly and flood the chamber.
A liquid that is too thick for a small coil may struggle to wick properly and can also contribute to inconsistent performance.
Always check the device or coil instructions before choosing an E-Liquid. Do not assume that every liquid will work correctly with every vape kit.

6. The Power Setting Is Too Low
This applies only to devices that allow the wattage or power level to be adjusted.
If the power is set below the coil’s recommended range, the coil may not heat sufficiently to vaporise the liquid reaching it. Excess liquid can then build up and cause gurgling or spitback.
Check the recommended wattage printed on the coil, packaging or product instructions.
Do not increase the wattage beyond the recommended range. Excessive power may burn the wick or damage the coil.
Prefilled pod devices and automatically regulated systems should be used according to their supplied instructions rather than manually adjusted. Manufacturer guidance notes that insufficient power can prevent the coil from vaporising liquid properly.
7. The Pod, Coil or Seal Is Loose
A pod or coil that is not fitted correctly may fail to create the seal needed to control the flow of E-Liquid.
Check that:
- The pod is inserted fully
- The coil is seated correctly, where removable
- The filling stopper is completely closed
- Rubber seals are not displaced
- Components are not cross-threaded
- There are no visible cracks or gaps
Do not force a component that does not fit naturally.

8. The Pod or Coil Is Worn Out
Coils and pods do not last indefinitely.
As a coil wears, its wick and internal seals may stop controlling E-Liquid effectively. The pod may begin gurgling, leaking or producing inconsistent vapour even when it is filled and installed correctly.
Signs that a replacement may be needed include:
- Persistent gurgling after cleaning
- Repeated leaking
- Weak flavour
- Reduced vapour

Where possible:
- Store the device upright
- Keep it away from direct sunlight

- Do not store it next to a radiator

How to Fix a Gurgling or Spitting Vape
Step 1: Stop Using the Device Temporarily
